Data Security
Protecting Your Most Valuable Asset Across Its Entire Lifecycle
Data Is the Asset
Across every sector Cloud Access serves, data has become the asset that organisations cannot afford to lose, corrupt or expose. Whether it is personal data held by a financial services firm, operational data flowing through an energy facility, or classified information managed by a government department, the protection of that data is not optional — it is fundamental to the organisation’s licence to operate.
Cloud Access delivers data security as an integrated practice: not a collection of isolated tools, but a coherent approach to protecting data across every stage of its lifecycle, from creation and storage to transmission, archiving and destruction.
Our Data Security Capabilities
We work across the full data security spectrum. Data classification — establishing schemes that allow data to be handled appropriately based on its sensitivity and regulatory status. Encryption — designing and implementing encryption strategies for data at rest, in transit and in use, across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments. Access controls — ensuring that data is accessible only to those with a legitimate need, through identity management, role-based access and privileged access controls. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) — detecting and preventing the unauthorised movement of sensitive data across the organisation’s boundaries. Breach response planning — preparing organisations to detect, contain and recover from data security incidents, and to meet their notification obligations to regulators and affected individuals.
Regulatory Context
Our data security work takes account of the regulatory environment in which clients operate. In the UK, this includes the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. For clients with Nigerian operations, we are familiar with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and its implementing regulations. Clients operating across both jurisdictions benefit from our understanding of both frameworks — and where they diverge.
A Note on Practicality
Data security measures that are too complex to operate consistently will fail in practice. We design controls that are proportionate to the risk, sustainable to maintain, and comprehensible to the people responsible for operating them.
